Type 1Acute atherothrombotic plaque rupture or erosion.
Type 2A reduction in myocardial oxygen supply (eg, hypotension, hypoxia, anaemia) or an increase in demand (eg, tachyarrhythmia) without atherothrombosis.
Type 3Cardiac death prior to biomarker sampling or myocardial infarction detected on autopsy.
Type 4a–cMyocardial infarction associated with percutaneous coronary intervention.
Type 5Myocardial infarction associated with coronary artery bypass grafting.
