To the Editor West and colleagues reference to the ‘current evidence’ for cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is out of date.1 We published an update to the Cochrane review of exercise-based CR in September 2011, with 47 trials randomising over 10 500 patients with coronary heart disease to exercise-based CR or usual care between 1975 and 2008.2 Although, aware of the RAMIT trial at the time of undertaking this update, we did not have access to its data, so we now welcome its publication.
